The municipality of Kaustinen has approx. 4,300 inhabitants and the College of Music also has its part in the town's rich folk music tradition (e.g. the annual Kaustinen Folk Music Festival) and therefore provides a unique opportunity to study music alongside the usual upper secondary school courses.
Students can specialize in music or simply study the basic courses without music. One can also carry out studies in international business and professional sports training.
There are annually about 150 students from all over Finland. Students have a chance to receive individual music education and group education according to their own choices and instruments (orchestra, classical, folk, rock, pop, jazz, choir, etc.). Kaustinen College of Music collaborates with e.g. Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory and Ala-Könni-Opisto (the teaching of traditional music in Kaustinen).
